What is the British Curry Club?
The British Curry Club is an organisation dedicated to the promotion and growth of the Indian food industry.
We raise the profile of the sector with constant promotion and original marketing initiatives that enhance the UK’s love affair with curry and persuade British food lovers to spend more time in Indian restaurants.
Why is the British Curry Club needed?
There are around 10,000 Indian restaurants and takeaway businesses across the UK. These establishments employ over 100,000 people and have an annual turnover of approximately £4.5 billion. Despite curry being the nation’s favourite dish, there is no independent industry champion promoting Indian dining and raising the profile of Indian food. Mike Ahmed, founder of the British Curry Club and an experienced restaurateur in his own right, decided that this had to change.
Having undertaken months of market research, Mike concluded that the industry is under-represented in terms of national exposure and marketing. It is time for us all to work together to put curry back at the top of the menu!
The British Curry Club promotes Indian cuisine to the nation in year-round marketing campaigns utilising TV, newspaper and online advertising. Every participating member of the club will benefit, from the consumers, to the restaurants and takeaways, and the Curry Club sponsors, advertisers and media partners.
How does the British Curry Club work?
The British Curry club is a collaboration of Indian restaurants and takeaways throughout the UK. Participating restaurants and takeaways will allow British Curry Club members to dine on a buy one, get one free basis.
Club members can research participating restaurants on this website and select the establishment they wish to visit. Upon arrival, they present their British Curry Club card in order to receive service of the highest order, as well as a substantially reduced bill.
Why should people join the British Curry Club?
Over six million people eat out at an Indian restaurant or enjoy a takeaway curry every week. These people could start enjoying huge savings as well as preferential service and other perks that British Curry Club membership brings.
Our website lists all member restaurants along with detailed descriptions about each one, allowing members to make an informed choice of where to eat next.
There are no limits on how often the club card can be used or on the savings that can be made. The more times someone visits member restaurants, the more they save. If we assume a bill reduction of £10 per visit, a member who dines out regularly could make an annual saving in excess of £1,000! And the perks of membership don't end there.
British Curry Club members will also benefit by way of discounts and incentives from a host of major companies outside the Indian food industry. These range from lower priced airline tickets and hotels to exclusive shopping and entertainment experiences and offers.
Club membership grants access to a password protected area of the British Curry Club website containing a wealth of valuable and fascinating information that a curry lover simply couldn’t live without, such as mouth watering recipes as well as members-only competitions with prizes ranging from cookery books to exotic weekend breaks. And if that wasn't enough, British Curry Club members will also be invited to new restaurant launches and exclusive industry events.

Exhibition stands and counters
Year round direct marketing with events held in shopping malls across the UK, promoting your Indian restaurant business. Exhibition stands rotate from mall to mall in different areas on a weekly basis. As a member of the British Curry Club, your establishment is welcome to use this an opportunity to promote your business directly to the public when we come to your area. Most UK shopping malls have anywhere between 200000 to 1000000 visitors per week. That's a huge number of potential customers for your establishment.
Public awareness Campaigns
Thousand Stars Award
British Curry Club consumer members are invited to comment on their dining experiences in the review section of the website. They are able to award a maximum of five stars for each restaurant review they submit based on service, menu choice, quality of the meal, price and décor. Your restaurant will be recognised as outstanding by us when you have achieved a total of one thousand stars awarded by your customers. To celebrate this fact, your establishment will be officially recognised with our prestigious Thousand Stars Award and promoted in the local media by us, free of charge.
This awards programme is an opportunity for hard working restaurants like yours, who work tirelessly for their customers, to gain extra exposure and promotion in the local media, raising your profile and boosting sales . The aim of this programme is not to compete against local restaurants. Instead it is intended for you to raise the bar at your establishment, so you and your staff are always maintaining the highest level of standards at all times, which in turn benefits your customers.
British Curry Club Marathon
An annual event that brings the entire industry together to raise awareness, promote our work and help good causes at the same time. This event never fails to capture the imagination of the national and local media, due to the fact thousands of people from all walks of life come together to take part while simultaneously demonstrating the unity of the curry industry.
Chotta Chef Competition
The aim of this competition is to encourage more families to dine together, increasing footfall during the quieter times at your restaurant in the earlier part of the evening. With our marketing team behind you, families are encouraged to take part in the competition at your spice restaurant. The final guarantees coverage by the local media and it might be your establishment which unearths the eventual winner!
Children’s Menu
Families love to eat out together, but our research has identified that very few Indian restaurants offer an exclusive children's menu. We've been hard at work designing generic menus to appeal to children. We forward these to your restaurant when you join. There is no additional charge for this service and it's a great way to encourage families to visit your establishment.
